The most recent funding we have received is allowing us to incorporate the use of Generative AI models to enable localisation and personalisation of pictographic symbols using Azure AI services. This is being achieved using co-design principles by involving users in a shared process of symbol acceptance to improve the Generative AI model.

A symbol creator app will provide users with the ability to create pictographics designed specifically to suit the styles and requirements of those already in use with text descriptions known as 'prompts' and uploaded images. These symbols can be adapted to include transparent backgrounds, black outlines, clear colours. They can be downloaded or used with Board Builder (when making communication charts) and contain additional mini-images to denote actions, topics or parts of speech etc.

Recent work has also included the development of GenAI AAC pictographic Access to Justice symbols for those caught up in juvenile courts of law across Europe who have no voice and are often learning disabled.

Continued updating, maintenance and added features to improve our repository of open licenced pictographic symbols and Board Builder app are much needed in order to support a growing number of Global Symbols users across the world (Google Analytics for 2024).
