5a. Different Levels of AAC Tech

No tech, low tech or light tech boards, mid-tech systems, and high-tech communication aids all have their advantages and disadvantages, and there are times when paper-based communication boards can be very useful.
- For example, these may be backup boards already designed for use on a child's AAC device, complete communication books or individual symbol cards on a keyring.
They can cover core words and topics needed in conversations or just one part of a school lesson and can be used where tablet technologies cannot.
