Symbol set choices depend on the AAC Forum's decisions as do the choice of core vocabularies with the support of experts and new symbols that the AAC Forum feel are suitable for AAC users.
- It is necessary to define the core vocabularies based on frequency counts by researching the most commonly used words for the AAC user groups
- The selection, development and adaptation of symbols depends on the local graphic designer and the need to gain good acceptance levels with batch voting.
- Open licence symbol sets need the appropriate creative commons licence so they can be shared with others.
