In the Croatian VOICE project, the partner institution was the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) with its Laboratory for Assistive Technology and Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC).
The curriculum of FER includes courses on digital inclusion and assistive technology. The team consisted of the lab's members who have many years of experience developing, applying, and training more than 30 different ICT-AAC mobile and web applications for communication, education, and awareness of issues affecting people with disabilities. During the VOICE project, the FER team was involved in activities to increase the capacity of a range of professionals (speech and language therapists , educational rehabilitators, preschool teachers, etc.) to support children with complex communication needs and their families.
A main responsibility was to conduct Cboard testing, provide technical support to users in Croatia, and communicate with the Cboard development team regarding application improvements. In addition, the FER team participated and worked with the Croatian Text to Speech (TTS) vendor Alfanum about the best way to implement TTS within Cboard.
